Tire size what does it mean?

I am looking into buying some tires. And was wondering what does the letters in front of the tire size mean?

P265/70r17
LT265/70r17
Or no letters at all.

If you guys were to buy which way would you go?

I also posted about the Geolanders in another thread but there wasn't many responses. What are your opinions on these? I can get a set (size noted above) for 700 mounted and balanced.

Thanks,
Dwight

LT=Light Truck

The "P" isnt really suited for the weight of our trucks IMHO.
I dont believe the "P" come in an E rating.
I would look more into a LT rated tire.
