I recently installed the tip-out tow mirrors on my truck. Its alot better towing with those than those cheap slide on deals.

Question is, I have to slide my seat a little forward for foot room in the rear for my youngest boy and with that I have the mirror glass adjusted against the stop tilted toward the driver. Its a little low and since the mirror is on a ball, wants to tip out as I push it up ( I hope this makes sense).

Has anyone popped one of the heads apart? I wanted to file off about 1/16" off the stops just so I can get it adjusted to where I wanted. Does the ball joint for the glass just pop out of the socket???

It's been a couple years since I replaced mine for a broken housing and with the onset of CRS, I can't be entirely certain, but I seem to recall that the glass holder is attached with a large star spring/washer thingy and a nut. If I still have it, I can take some pics for you when I get home.

I was just wondering if the ball socket was easier than that to get to... I really don't want to take it apart if I have to.
