Timing rattle??? HELP!
I was takeing my friend for a ride in my truck today and he was very impressed. I was telling him if i put my bully dog back to stock it still drove good with almost no smoke, so later on i put it to stock and going from a stop and getting into it i would have a slight ratte for 2 seconds or so and then it would quit. We did this 3 times, hes a truck driver and said it sounded like timing rattle. I switched it back to CL and i didnt hear it anymore? This is really making me paranoid and i have to drive 130 miles back to school tommorow so whats going on? I forgot to mention my edge EZ was on 1 the whole time. He said that maybe with my injectors and twins on a stock setting the timing was to retarded but wasnt quite sure??

Very good chance that you got some bad fuel, put some good conditioner in it, such as powerup, (something with lots of cetene in it) After another tank it will probably clear up

when i am driving on stock power, at higher RPM's i hear a slight rattle, especially bad when my EZ is on. what i am talking about is short lived, as soon as the tranny shifts the noise is back to normal.
My truck did it 5 or 6 times yesterday driving on stock power with my bigger turbo. I think its more injector noise than anything. you put CL back on and its fine, so oh well. Mine always acted the same....put more fuel into it and no noise, kinda like it was runnin too lean. oh well. drive back to school with no worries

ACook, our little plan is working....just kidding....If it went away with the CL then don't worry about it. Sounds like your truck is addicted to power and when you go back to stock the ECM goes to toopid. ks

Mine will do it every so often. But as I said, it is usually if I dont put in enough of the power up. Or if I use a different brand. I have found that the power up IMO has the most cetene per 100ml that I can find.
And what really makes that weird, is sometimes it will go away if I put the edge to 5
