Timing Question
A friend wanted me to post this question. He has a 97 12v with a #12 fuel plate that he had someone set the timing on 15.5 The truck now has a miss at idle and smooths out at 2000rpm's. Said he lost a lot of bottom end power. Did the timing get set higher than 15.5 or what. How do the 12v trucks run with the timing advanced. Hope someone can help. Thanks

I have mine set around that .I pull a 5th wheel with a combined weight of around 19k and I have no problem If I put my foot in it moves like one would take of normally with a empty truck.Mine does not miss but has been getting a little bit of a shake at idle the motor has around 185k on stock injectors.I never drove it with out the timing set were it is now.
Does it smoke any ? If so what color is it?

He said his motor shakes at idle, said he is getting the timing set back to 13.5
I read something on piers diesel, 1 degree of timing is good 2 degrees not on a close to stock truck. Thanks for the reply.
