Time for new tires!

Time for new tires(2003 3/4 ton 2wd 6sp manual). I have been happy with the stock Michelin's(LTX A/S) as far as fuel economy and tire longevity(104,000mi). But they have poor grip on snow, dirt and gravel. Most of my time is spent on the highway and at boat landings. I would like a tire that keeps the fuel economy and longevity of my existing stock tires but gets a little better grip on dirt, gravel and icy boat landings. During the winter I carry 700lbs and put Cooper Discoverer M+S tires on the back but keep a set of these on the front. Right now my current candidates are.

Cooper Discoverer ATR
Michelin LTX A/T2's
Michelin LTX M/S
Nitto Dura Grappler
Pirelli Scorpion ATR

Any Suggestions? Recommendations? I'm willing to consider other options.

I like the Toyo Open Country All Terrain. Comes in lots of size options and most are available with a Load range E rating. Have also heard good things about the Coopers and the Dura Grapplers!

I've had a couple sets of the Toyo OC A/Ts. For an all terrain, they are smooth and quiet. They have great wet/snow traction.

The Dura grapplers are getting reat reviews, and the Pirelli ATRs are the #1 rated tire at Tirerack.

I don't think you can go wrong with any of them.

alot of us 2wd people are going with the Toyo's. That is my plan once these mich's wear down. I am going to go a few sizes up to 285/75/17 to improve my fuel mileage. nitto just came out with a 285 tire is E rating also. When its time to buy i will do some research on both.

I do like my TOYO's for the Michelin replacements the one complaint I have is when I air down on the sand they don't seem to flatten out as much I have to be careful what I get into they must have some super sidewalls. The tires are quiet and seem to be holding up well with about 7,500 miles on them about half of that towing a 5er

I have the Nitto Dura Grapplers 285/75/17 (only 1000 miles on them). Road manners are 100 times better than the Michelins they replaced and are just as quiet. My truck drives so nice I find ever excuse just to drive it. The only thing thats hard for me to get use to is the look of the sidewall, it looks to busy. Besides that these tires are near perfect for my needs.

As for fuel economy: I lost approx. .5 mpg in the city but gained about 1 mpg on the highway, hand calced.
