View Full Version : tie rods
I have already asked you guys what to replace on my ram because it handles so poorly and i really appreciate all the help. I am going to replace the track bar on Monday. I just wondered what you guys thought about replacing the ends of the tie rods as well. Could a bad tie rod be attributing to the poor handling I have right now?? Just thinking out loud

Get under the truck, and get someone you trust to fire it up and rock the steering wheel back and forth. If the tie rod ends have play, you will see it. Also, maybe get a good alignment shop to check for a thrust angle on the rear axle, and ensure that there is at least 3 degrees of caster up front.

I would, and did. It is my theory that the bad track bar causes some kind of harmonics in the front end, which in turn, cause the tie rods to go bad too.
I just bought some Moog stuff, that has a life-time warranty. A minor pain to change, but if it goes bad as Dodges are prone to do, then I'll just replace them free, except my labor.
