Angry Tie rod failure while driving and dealer saying it was a fluke

So ill make it short I initally took my truck in 2 weeks ago for a clattering noise upon bumps dodge replaced all 4 ball joints and said that was it. I took their word, but 2 months earlier had the tires rotated and the shop that did it said the ball joints and right tie rod needed to be replaced but I took dodges word for it. So I was driving down the road 5 days ago hit an expansion joint on a bridge and all of a sudden lost control of my truck skidded off the road, got out everything looked fine (it was dark out) went down the road it went crazy again got it into a lighted parking lot and saw that the steering rack was on the ground And worst of all my pizza I went to get hit the floor of my truck . But here is my question do I have a case against dodge for failing to reconize this and almost costing my life. Take a look at the picts and tell me what you think.

Some of the picts are from the day after you can see the tie rod clearly and the part that is still attached.
Please take a look im in need of some help here. BTW my truck has only 62k on it.

Im thinking that if there was a recall and if he pointed out to the dodge dealer and they still said it was fine and ignored it im thinkin he has a **** good case against dodge.

To the OP you need to make sure to have documentation that you pointed it out to dodge and that they said 'yep everythings fine'

I got my recall notification on my 05 last week, the thread has the link to the Chrysler site that he can run his VIN number in. One of the gas companies 05 work trucks had the tie rod end fall off at 30K as well (he dang ne'er took out a ceder tree with it - the driver was not a happy camper) This problem is more common then they want you to know.. Yes he should have a good case with it..just do a Google search on the subject..

Those with 2006's and 2007's that were upgraded to the 2008 and 2009 steering DO have to check into the recall as the tie rods used in those upgrades DO have a problem, this is just one more example of the reason for that recall.

In a technical sense, if your truck was repaired by Dodge, and it was repaired by Dodge AFTER the safety recall, they should have used the parts as specified in the recall as replacements for those parts being recalled. If they did not use those parts, then it should be something that you have recourse due to their NEGLECT.

I have a 2006 model, have not had problems with tie rods, ball joints, death wobble, etc so my truck is still running the stock 2006 parts. At 42K my steering, etc is still as tight as new, but when the time comes for me to have to do replacements due to wear, these newly designed replacement parts will present a problem because of exactally what is taking place in this safety recall stuff - how would I know the difference between which parts were the original replacement upgrades and which parts are now to be used due to these kind of failures????

I know that I will replace my ball joints with those made by Carli, just makes sense to buy the better designed ball joint. Ther real problem may come when I have to do the tie rods, they may no longer have available what I have now, they may only have the 'never' upgrade parts, and I will be very skeptical about what ones I ould get because some dealership or parts house might have this old stuff that is unsafe.

Chrysler has decided that a defect, which relates to motor vehicle safety, exists in some 2003 through 2009
model year Dodge trucks.
The problem is... During a prior service appointment, a Mopar service parts steering linkage may
have been installed on your truck (VIN: xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx). The drag link inner
joint may fracture under certain driving conditions. This could result in a loss of
steering control and cause a crash without warning.

Also, the steering damper bracket at the tie rod tube may loosen. This could allow
the bracket to slide on the tube and may cause increased vehicle turning radius.

That recall only applies if you have had your front end worked on?

That recall really only applies to 4x4's with the upgraded OEM steering parts. I'm fairly sure 2x4's have nothing to do with it. Judging by the OP's sig, it is implied that his truck is a 2x4 but it isn't actually stated what he has.....need the OP to elaborate.
