Thuren Kits

I see Don updated his site a little. Im wanting to part together a system a little at a time. I think PTgarcia and a few others done something similar and was wanting to know how and what order this should be done.

I know im going full bore with it at some point, bed sides, front fenders, etc,... but kinda like the motor mods it might take a few years to be satisfied as I am with the power.

I have seen all the videos from Carli/Defiant, Kore, Lorenz and Thuren but I notice his video isnt as "aggressive" as some of the others. I have heard that his are capable of the same type of performance but his video its hard to see the size of the whoops hes hitting.

Does Don have a 3.0" shock avaliable for these trucks? If I'll cut the bed for a 6" stack I suppose I would do it again to get a little travel.

I think that and bumps are the only way to achieve where im want to go.

Kore told me a few years back "If you NEED bump stops your using your truck too hard". Duh!!! Thats why I bought it.

I dont think Don has 3" shocks last time I checked but dont doubt his product it is awesome.... For smooth body 3" shocks like mine you dont cut into the bed thats only if you go with the Bypass Race Shocks KORE offers... However if you dont have a cage and racing seats I honestly believe the smooth bodies are all you need look at CT's truck that Carli Suspension built with 3" smooth bodies..... Six or Seven feet in the air that is crazy!!! Maybe Bob4X4 will chime in to help......

If you're going to do it in stages like I did I'd start with the front and work your way back. I did shocks, springs, towers, end links and track bar first, then shocks and springs in the rear, and over time pickup a new part here and there to get me where I am now. Hoping to add control arms next time I see Don.

And I don't think Don has messed with the 3" shocks for our trucks yet. They require a bit more work to fit than the 2.5s.

WOW i'll be inquiring about those. Ive said air bumps were the future for the last 5 years or so.

PT, you think the 3" is necessary if I want to get 6' of air like that guy on the video? I figured with that limited travel the bigger the better.

Did you ever look at the air bag setup for towing. I think I remember Don doing that for Wiggs (stole my idea). Cant stay ahead of the game if you gotta save up to buy unlike DAVID!

What ball park can I look at needing for the front end? If you dont mind me asking. With the trailing arms and all?

CD, Im gonna do a stainless tube chassis (with foam padding, too bight) so if the bypass shocks will do it all im game. May have to buy one shock at a time though $$$$$$.

6' of air? You must have big brass ones! All i can say is be prepared to make repairs! That's a lot of weight to chuck 6' into the air, even with the best suspension.

Yeah, seen the bags up close and personal. They are a super slick setup. If I ever get the 5th wheel I want I'm going to be forced into getting a set. According to Bob4x4 they actually act similar to an air bump when empty. I'd rather have an air bump, but the bags may have to suffice.

Figure about $365-$375 ea for a King 2.5 Prerunner shock, towers are $180 I think, springs have to be $400+ now, track bar is $345, end links are $170, limit straps are $90, steering stabilizer is $265, bump stops are going to be $125 I think. Did I forget anything? Oh yeah, radius arms - $1600 I think. So what's that make, $4000 for a complete front setup?

The rears a bit cheaper. About $750 for shocks, and $1500 or so for leaf pack and shackles. The air bags and air bumps are roughly the same price, around $850.

Here's a pic of Don's Bumps. I installed them yesterday.

O'yah, don't forget about his control arms. I have a set of those also.

This is a true story, I was at his house 2 weeks ago checking them out on his truck and he took me for a spin, basicly the suspension feels like magic.

Haven't seen pics of the arms in yet. Were you able to get them done?

Looks good James. I need to get my hands on some arms. Once I get those and rear bump I'm calling it quits with my suspension.

cool video...I can't imagine doing that on a regular basis unless I owned my own shop...repairs would get expensive...

for now I like a mix of offroading and when I really need to get high I'll just jump on a trampoline.....

Yes that is CT's truck but I wouldnt race with it .... If your getting a cage and planning on competing then I would cut into the bed and add 2 or even 4 3" Bypass shocks.... Up front on the race trucks they run their off the shelf tower like mine with the 3" smooth body like mine.... Some also weld on a hoop were the sway bar is and mount a 4" or another 3" shock... KORE is who I am refering to as that is who I deal with... If I was you I would buy their new Race system which comes with the long travel bypass shocks out back then if your not satisfied I would add another pair of shocks up front..... Only Problem is with FAB work were talking 15-20 Thousand for a full on race truck..... Big Money

I also want to add if your not racing then the smooth bodies are fine for jumping with or without a cage as long as you have an axle truss.... Like CT's truck with the Carli system....Im sure Carli could set you up with full on race equipment as well I just dont know for sure....
