Thuren Cross Over Steering!
So, Saturday I decided I was going to install the Heavy Duty steering kit from Don. It was proabably one of the best maintenance/mods I have done to my truck. This kit took all of about 1.5 hours to install and makes a world of difference. I still have to fab up a couple of brackets to make my dual steering stabilizers work, but those will just be an added bonus to this kit.
The reason I bought this kit is because my tie rod ends were all pretty much toast and after looking at the cost of replacing the ends, I decided I wanted a better set-up. Don has this bent set-up that is absolutey awesome. I just got back from a 400 mile road trip and I thought I was in a brand new truck, I lost pretty much all wander I had before and it is very responsive. I do not have my steering stabilizers in and it was still so much more pleasurable to drive then the stock setup was.
So, you guys that have the worn out tie rod ends and loose steering, I would definitely check this setup out. It is a very affordable alternative to the factory steering, and I can almost guarantee that it will out last the stock balljoints.

What wheels are you running?
Don told me that there may be interference with the factory 16x8 alloys that came on the 01 and 02 trucks.
I like my OEM wheels, and I'd hate to think they are keeping me from better steering!

re: heims
I'm not concerned about Joe Bag-o-doughnuts; I'm concerned about the state safety inspection.
I haven't lived in a state with mandatory safety inspections other than TX, but I'd want to know more about that in case I do..
