Throwing a ROD!!!!!!!
Well I did it! I stacked my Banks Six Gun w/ speed loader with the Bully Dog download on the performance setting; and TOWED my 10K 5`vr!
It was a steep and long hill. Had my foot all the way in it and was only doing 50 mph in 3rd gear.....had to pass my father in law with the Ferd powerstroke!
I was blowing the powerstrokes away.... with my egt's at 1050 and my trans at 150, my boost was bout 30 psi, engine temp around 200. Then with no warning my engine temp jumped to 3/4 on my temp gauge. I immediatly got out of the throttle and milked the rest of the hill at about 35 to 40 mph. Engine temp came down. All is good right??!!
Nope..when I stopped at the top of the hill my quite deisel was louder than most Big Rigs!!!
Drove 100 mile so that I could get to my destination...all the power was there just sounded horrible.
Took my six gun out...downloader stock settings from Bully Dog. Out of town so had to leave my exhaust and wastegate on took to a dealer and they said I was throwing a rod and they would need to call Dodge cuz of my Exhaust. Said Min 2 to 3 weeks before they even know. I said no thanks and picked my truck up and drove it home, without my 5`vr (bout 500 miles) and is now sitting in my driveway.
Plan...put my truck completly back to stock and take it to my preferred dealership.

Well give me hell if you want but this is your problem not Dodge. So why try to screw them out of warrenty work, I just don't get it.
Buy the way your EGT's seem low, it that pre or post turbo, I would bet the EGT was higher then that.

Not going to matter where you take it now, they have obviously put the information in the system and any dealer will know what that first one found just by entering your Vin # into the computer.

You'd better hope that no one at that "preferred dealer" is a member here on DTR!
With the combination of you making this statement online:
with the fact that youve already stopped at one dealer who entered all your info... it seems to me that you just became your own warranty.

I am going dis-agree with the crowd on this. If you removed all the preformance stuff box and reloaded stock program you might be o.k. If the dealer DID NOT know of the boxes, thus they would not note them in the DC main frame. DC may not void your warentee if they beleive you only add a bigger exhaust. I am NOT suggesting you get un-ethical with the dealer, just that they may have over looked the idea of a box.
If they do void your warentee then DXC is completely in the right due to the mods., just stating not give it up just yet.

So far from what I have been told by a few of the manufacturers is that all power modifcations that alter voltage and/or ECM parameters will leave a fingerprint somewhere on the ECM.
There once was a time when DC could not read the ECM, now its the other way around on the 3rd gens. Cummins cannot read the newest ECM's.
It they want to dig deep enough, they can find a way to can the warranty.
Judging by your symptoms and your temps, I'd be inclined to think it was a mechanial problem over the added power.
Posting on a public forum what your intent is...well, I think Homer said it all.

I am a diesel newbie with only 1 yr of owning a Dodge BUT WHY would anyone pull up that type of grade, loaded, with your foot on the floor, passing other vehicles. That sounds plain and simply like abuse regardless if the truck had performance enhancing equipment or not. What kind of rpm were you running? I hate to see this happen to anybody but sometimes you gotta know when to lift and not punish your equipment. Good Luck.

I'm all for passing FERD's, especially loaded!(Even though 10K is hardly a load for a Cummins)
BUT, I know what my truck can handle even before I start, and I've pulled tons of hills at 1100-1200* EGT's. AGAIN, I know what my truck can handle, and I don't run those kinds of temps for the whole hill, usually just the start of them when the CC falls asleep and pours on the fuel to catch up, but I have pushed it hard up hills to pass semi's and the occasional "Other" brand.
NOW, as for the warranty, doing what you're speaking of is one of the reasons I'm sometimes ashamed to drive a Dodge. People around here think that if they can hide it, then it's legal, and it has made our local dealer very picky AND VERY EXPENSIVE!
It hurts us all!
Good luck with the truck, I hope you learn something from this,
Chris
BTW, I never show off my Cummins Power, they're all just driving too slow

I don't see a problem about the load, speed, or temps (assuming the EGT was pre turbo). Those are the conditions that these trucks are designed to operate in. The choice of aftermarket equipment, especially stacking, is most likely the culprit if any. I agree with Scotty and think that it was not due to the additional power.
I am not a fan of stacks that overlap. Both the programer and the Banks mess with timing and pressure. There has not been a perfect understanding yet what you get when those two are working together (or against?) each other. Nobody really knows what the total timing advance and total rail pressure is???????
If you stack a duration box with a pressure box, the manipulations are understood. The operator knows what the max pressure is...max duration is...max timing advance is and can tune the set up to be reasonable.
