throwing code p0217

throwing code p0217-decreased engine performance due to engine overheat condition. water pump was replaced a couple of weeks back due to it leaking. truck never overheated. coolant level is full and coolant is fresh. truck is running fine-no symptoms. what gives? anybody know exactly what this codes means and where to look for a problem??? thanks.

The fan clutch does have an electrical connection. The wire loom comes out of the fan clutch, runs down the back side of the radiator, and makes a connection underneath the fan shroud near the driver's side of the vehicle. According to my mechanic the fan speed varies with temperature and engine rpm, all monitored by electronics. Mine failed recently and it was a $500+ fix, including labor.
