Thinking about lowering truck back down!

I am looking at getting another 5'ver. Problem is that I will have to lower the truck back down to at least a leveling kit and 33's. This means I will have to find tires and/or wheels. I am going to sell my wheels/tires/lift, and need to be looking at weather to find some stock wheels or something aftermarket. Will I be able to sell my wheels and tires together better or keep my wheels and just sell the tires? I really hate to sit it back down, but sometimes life is about compromises. Wheels are Helo maxx 8's 18x10, tires are Toyo M/T 37x13.50's and lift is 6" Revtek.

Opinions?

What are 37" Toto M/T's with 50-60% tread worth? Rims? What about a used lift with 25k on it? Trying to figure out what these are worth so I can figure out where I am at.

There's a guy on Cummins Forum that can't get 2900 for a set up very close to what you're selling.

I would wonder how easy it is to find an E range tire in 18 inch diameter wheel.......

That would determine whether you should keep your wheels or not.

I know it was over $900 for the 17 inch stock size Bridgestone Dueler Revos I just put on in E range...

I don't think my wheel/tire/lift combo would bring anywhere near that, sounds like he is about a grand to high.

I would wonder how easy it is to find an E range tire in 18 inch diameter wheel.......
That's why I am looking to go back to stock wheels. I didn't need the "E" load rating when I was running on 37's, but when we get another fifth wheel I will. You can find them in 18", just the selections are less. Wish I wouldn't have sold my factory polished aluminums now!

Man, I just bought a set of 37s last night and my 6" revtek kit is ordered. Oh well Im on the other side of the US anyway. How did you like your lift? Any thoughts or pointers for someone about to go that route?

I too tried to purchase a new 5'ver and was told that my truck was too high, I'm thinking about switching out all my gear as well. It seems like a lot of work and loss of $ though. It's really too bad we had the deal all worked out and I just thought maybe we should measure things just to make sure everything works. Not sure if I want to take on the headache of switching.

why not just flip the axles on the trailer? basically moving the springs from the bottom of the axle to the top. that'll get you about 6" on the trailer. cheaper and less time consuming than trying to sell your wheels and/or tires and having to buy new tires and maybe wheels.

Depending on your lift options maybe $400-600. Wheels and tires, maybe $1000? And stocks around the same have to be worth like $400? So maybe end up with $1100 when your done.

If it's a smaller trailer, flipping the axles and pulling it lifted is not a problem. It would make it more top heavy, but it's not very much lift. Look at how big some of these trailers are, they aren't to much different from the factory. But if it's already one of those massive ones, yea you don't want it any higher.

The one we are looking at is already 12' 7". Didn't look, but I am pretty sure they are already "sprung-over".

Most of the newer trailers are sprung over and have adjustment plates (can't remember correct term) to take it up another 1-2 inches in most cases. You really should have close to 6 inches of clearance between the truck and 5er so as you go over curb entries and dips you have enough clearance to not hit the bed. The higher the fiver the harder it is to pull (more wind resistance) and you need to make sure you stay under 13" 6", of course you must always make sure you can clear whatever you pull under. Remember the bank drivethrough video?

As for wheels, advertise on Craigs list or hit up the tire outfits. I got a set of chrome clads pretty cheap from a tire outfit, they are called takeoffs. They can't sell them for new even if they take them off the truck before the owner drives it.

I have been pulling mine with the lift and 35's. The problem that I am currently facing is with the weight of the 5er on the hitch, the trailer sits level but the truck does not. This leads to steering issues that I have not resolved yet. If I put airbags on it to put some weight back on the front of the truck, then I lose my clearance at the tailgate.
