Thermostat..?
Hi guys
I'm sitting here making my parts list , yesterday I did my KDP and my seal for my vacume pump ... all that turned out great , eccept for the fan bearing I have to track down one of those and a fan clutch .
I'm making my parts list , since I have the cooling system down I was wondering about the themostats in the cummins ... should I get another for preventive maintance...I have 155,000 on the truck .
I have 3 local cummins dealers near me , I am going to hit my local auto parts dealer for all the rad hose's and belt ... I get list price , but I hope cummins can get me that block bearing .
Thanks Guys
Greg

Any time I open up a cooling system I replace the tstat - it's just good practice. So if I were you I would be stopping by the ole parts store and getting a replacement one.
How was the vacuum seal replacement I think mine is leaking from the vacuum pump. I bought a kit off Ebay for replacement but have been to lazy to pull out the DVD instruction kit with it and watch it yet.

re:seal
Hi Travis
The pump was not that bad ... But I did have the whole front of the motor apart ... I only bought the one seal main shaft seal ...I did buy the viton which is good for 400 degree's , if you do a seach you will find the part #.
The pump it self is pretty easy , it's just a vain pump , kind-a like the turbo heaters , just be very careful pressing in the main seal , I machined a custom driver out of aluminum to press in my seal .
