will there be problems with these tires

allright here is the deal the old tires have worn down and its time to get some new ones and I found a spot where I can get a set of military humvee tires for dirt cheap. their size is 36-12.5-16.5 or about 318/78/16.5. I was wondering what problems would be ran into if I were to buy these and put them on also I was even wondering if they would fit.

They are too big so a lift would be needed. The biggest i have seen on stock 4x4 is 33". You could get a leveling kit and stuff 35's not too sure of 36's, maybe. Those tires are nice and would love a set on my truck.

You would need a minor lift

or a leveling kit at least. Your stock front end trackbar and such will not like the larger tires i can assure you that tho... I have 285s and my front end skyjacker hates it...

WATCH WHAT YOU BUY!!!!, most of those military tires are C rated and will nt be real great undur our truck specailly if you pull or haul anything. I would pass on them and just spend a little more on a decent set.

Those military tires SUCK!!!!!!
My buddy who is a Marine says they get like 6 months on the stateside tires that do alot of highway convoy duty. Not the best rubber compound for 65 mph on asphalt and blacktop.
Spend the money up front for good street rated tires unless your Uncle Sam or are gonna stay in the field 90% of the time.

Milage sucks because most of them are bias plys. They do make a radial version but I dont really know how they last either. Most military stuff gets the job done but isnt all that good. Look at the commands that can get away with ordering aftermarket stuff and you will see the same stuff we get. I have seen more than one govt ford super duty running around with a lift and super swampers!!

The Hummer tires are not intended for pavement duty, and they don't last long on the road. Think Swamper TSL treadlife and you get the idea.

I'm in charge of vehicle maintenance for an Air Force base (well, not presently anyway)... So I know a couple things about military vehicles-- esp hummers.

I have a friend that bought a set of these just because they were cheap also. He 3/4 ton dodge w/ a cummins that he put them on. He said the truck was terrible with those tires. It wondered all over and they were really loud. He took them off after only a month or two because he couldn't stand them any more. I would get a set of these for these trucks.
