Thank You BD Performance

During my trip "North of the Border" June through September 2008, I installed a BD fuel pressure warning light. I thought for sure that I would never see that light come on since I had previously installed a new lift pump, just as a preventive maintenance measure to assure of no lift pump failure during my North trip. Well the new pump got me to the states and back again. Then on a local beach trip the BD warning light began to glow. By stopping and restarting the engine several times I managed to make it home and the light remained off, everthing seem to be back to normal. The following day I started the truck and sure enough after a couple of minutes the light came on again. After gathering some fittings I added a small pressure gauge to my filter housing just verify the light. Again stopping and starting the engine the light went off and the pressure gauge indicated 10-11 PSI. Within a few minutes of idling the light came on and the pressure gauge reflected zero pressure.

I have reinstalled the old lift pump again and it is working fine. It should last until I receive my Airdog 100 kit. Thanks "BD Performance" that simple little pressure light is great and probadly saved me an injection pump.

That is good to hear and that you caught it before it did damage to your VP!

This is the reason why a light alone is not a good idea - you need to know what the pressure is, rather than having a light go on and off. A fuel pressure guage costs less than the light.

Glad you saved your pump though.

A gauge is good but unless your staring at it all the time you might not notice the LP quit, I believe having the lite adds to the ability to detect a failure.
My vote is for both! and having both comfirms that you indeed have no fuel pressure. I had a gauge and lite, but with the J/A it has an alert and a psi reading. but I'm going to add the lite as well, just cause the Attitute monitor is beeping it does not mean that I dont have pressure, could be a bad sender, and I've read that the senders do fail quite often, so having a backup low pressure lite would comfirm my J/A is telling no lies

Sorry Nick - another thumbs down for an electric guage as well.

I too agree, my trust is in mechanical not electrical.
