I Test Drove The 6.7 Dodge RAM today
WOW! What a truck! I visited a Lewiston, ID dealer and got to test drive both the 6-speed automatic and manual trannies. The one with the auto tranny was SWEET! There's a long grade right outside of Lewiston (about 7%)and the truck went up that grade like it wasn't there. It took that grade in 6th gear most of the way. The manual tranny truck did very well also, but I must say that the 6-speed auto has me spoiled (like that exhaust brake, too).
I was also impressed with the quietness of the engine. With the doors closed I had a hard time detecting that it was even running (and I have good hearing).
Both vehicles were 4X4's. It seems that nobody buys 4X2's in this part of the country (the salesman was able to locate two withing a 300 mile radius). I may wind up with a 4X4 although I think I may have preferred the other. I suppose it will be useful at times but I will definitely need steps mounted on the sides (they're optional)...the vehicle is quite high, even for a long-legged guy like me.
This is definitely my next tow vehicle and will be an excellent compliment for my planned purchase of a 29.5' Hitchhiker 5er.

4x2 in Idaho? where are you from? thay maybe one of the funniest thing i have ever heard. not bashin just teasin. lewiston is a hole (lowest point in ID) but venture outside of there in a 1 ton P/U with no 4X4 on the winter or for that sake campin, huntin, fishin. steps on a un lifted 4x4? long legged? that is the beauty of a truck! I am 6'2 and like how i have to stretch to get inside. do yourself a favor when you buy go to Dave Smith in kellogg.
