Is this TEMPERATURE Normal???

I took this pic today of my dash to show the point my temperature guage shows while underway. Aside from the obvious, ambient temp was 84 degrees, towing 9K fiver rv, calm winds.
This is the point the guage shows anytime while towing. SOLO, it will be a bit under the 200 degree mark.
I was wondering if this is the norm OR is my truck running a little warm? Thanks. Phillip

I pull a gooseneck every day that weighs from 7 to 15k and unless the temp is down in the 30s it is always a little over 200.

I wouldnt worry about it unless it gets up to 225-230.

From what I understand, generally guages are oriented so that 12:00 is normal. That seems to be the case for my truck. Can't remember what temp it runs offhand to check though, and the truck's in the shop.

I've seen mine bob up to about that point towing 18K up some 5-6% grades, I would be more concerned about what your EGT's are doing than the info from the stock idiot gauge. It's relative, but maybe EGT's and oil temp might really be a better choice for information than the stock gauge.

There is considerable drag towing a 5er 70 mph. Looks about right to me. The temp gauge needle goes right and the fuel gauge needle goes left

Yep, mine runs right there all the time pulling a load and unloaded it will run just below the 200 mark, no matter the outside temp.

Yup, that's normal.

Now if it was half way between 200 and 245, then I'd worry.

Mine reached about that mark on my way to Florida last week. It never got any higher though even when I was sitting in some heavy stop and go traffic at a couple points....

I don't mind the engine temps that high but when I was sitting in traffic the trans temps got up there too. they cooled down as soon as I was moving again but after a couple hours of that the fluid smells burnt so I will be putting new fluid in this weekend.....
