How to tell what model 1998 I have

I'm looking for parts at carparts.com, when I'm going through the process of inputting what truck I have I get to a part where I choose the engine. They give me three choices for the diesel:

Dodge Pickup Ram 2500 5.9L Diesel L6 Turbo VIN:6
Dodge Pickup Ram 2500 5.9L Diesel L6 Turbo VIN:C
Dodge Pickup Ram 2500 5.9L Diesel L6 Turbo VIN:D

I'm guessing there is a particular number/letter in my VIN that would tell me this. Does anyone know how to deciper this? Thanks.

I think its the eight digit/letter of the VIN that denotes which engine you have. One is probably the 12v, the other two probably 24v auto, 24v manual

The 8th digit in your vin will be one of those choices, the 12valve is 'D'.

the C is probly v-10 or v-8

Edit: The C designation is not listed in 98+ vin. Its is however in the 94-97 listing as the 5.9l diesel.
