tap tap tap said the lifter???
I have a lifter tapping... its annoying. Want to fix it but never set lifters on a diesel before. Did it on a small blocks before and and a VW. Is there a guide to adjusting the lifters ? 06 ram, 2500 diesel.
Thanks

Do not waste any time getting to this. My 04 had a tapping from the engine that would be there almost all the time. The dealer said there was nothing they could do until it was more obvoius.
I dropped a valve and did some major damage listening to the dealer. I was out of warranty by 12K miles and they denied the warranty even with the documentation of 4 visits for the same problem.
If what I am typing can save someone else the costs and hassles I encountered...that would be nice.

I had a similar expereince with the truck when it was under the extended warrenty... bastards.
Back to topic... It is getting worse. Use to not be bad but now everytime starting it you can really hear it. It needs to be fixed... Especially before I drive from south Texas to northest Maine hauling a goosneck trailer full of of motorcycles :-)
I have about 122k on it.

The injector pumps make that noise in time too. It's the timing gear lashing on the keyway everytime the injectors pulse. It can fool you
