What are the tallest tires I can put under my stock height 06 2500? I know there's plenty of room in the back, but don't want to rub the front when turning. Thanks, Shima

I have the Nitto Terra Grappler 305/70/17s, they are around 33.5-34", they don't rub under most conditions, only when the suspension is articulated do they rub verry little, just enough to rub the paint off of the front links when you turn hard. However I've had a problem with them. When they were new they were great, no vibration, nothing. They've got around 20k on them and I've taken them in numerous times for ballancing and they still shake over 75 mph, but below ride perfectly smooth. I was at discount last weekend and they suggested a new size that nitto just put out about three weeks ago, 285/75/17s, same height, 1 inch narrower, so they won't rub and they said they would balance better on the stock rims. Mine have worn well, but i think i'll probably get them to warranty them and get the narrower ones soon.

I run 315s (about 34.5") on H2 wheels without rubbing the wheels are the determining factor. I've heard the 315s rub on the control arms when on the stock wheels they have less backspacing.

I have 295/70/17's (33.5") on completely stock truck with no rubbing whatsoever but it comes real close. Looks much better too.

i have an 02 2500 4x4 and i want to put a 2" leveling kit on it. would runing 315/75/16 tires be a problem?

I was running 285/75/17 (33.8 inch diameter) on stock aluminum wheels prior to add my lift. No rubbing issus at all...

I am also running 285/75/17 Nitto Terra Grapplers, stock wheels, no lift on a 2 wheel drive with no rubbing issues.

I ran BFG AT 285/70/17's and they came pretty close but still cleared under all conditions.
The BFG's have a wider section width than the Nitto's even though they are both 285's

Don't know if you have 2 or 4 wheel drive but if its 2wd 305's will probably rub some, and you wouldn't be able to run 315's without a lift or different backspacing.

I went with 295/70/17 Nitto Terra Grapplers on my stock truck with stock wheels. It looks like I could go bigger, but I didn't. I was a little nervous not knowing how big I could go for sure, but 295 was an easy fit.

Im running 245/70 19.5 with stock lift and no rub. In winter, I put on 225/70 19.5 and still have room for tire chains when snow plowing.

I'm running 315/70-17 Goodyear Extreme AT's on the stock wheels, no lift or leveling kit. I have slight rubbibg on the control arms when turned to full lock. It's not bad at all. The tires have never touched the fenders, and I've tried. I like the looks of the fender being filled up a little too.

Did you guys with autos and 3.73s notice much power change going from stock to 295s?

I have a 2004 2wd, 3500, srw. Last month I put on a set of 285/75/17 Nitto Dura Grapplers. Absolutely no rubbing issues - the tire fills the front wheel well, but no rubbing at all and will not hit top of fender liner.

Now, as to the effect on gearing.

I have 4.10 gears (auto trans) my effective gear ratio with the 34" tires is now about 3.84. Noticeable difference in pulling power? Only slightly. Because of the torque produced by the CTD going to a taller tire on a truck with 4.10s is not an issue. I find the trans does NOT search for the proper gear in town driving.

Going to a 34" tire with 3.73 axle ratio is likely a bit different story - especially if you tow heavy.

I ordered my truck several years ago knowing that when I finally wore the factory Michelins out that I would be going to a larger diameter tire because the 265/70/17 size appears too small on these trucks.
