Hit up your local auto dismantlers/wrecking yards. Some will even put it on the squak box and help ya locate the thing.

problem with hitting the wrecking yards is that the new kit comes with the inserts that go in the gate when installing them and getting the old ones out so it is installed correctly may be a pain in the rear. $96 is not a bad price. check dodgeparts.com and see if they have it cheaper.

I never saw any mileage increase when I had one on my 08 truck. I can tell you for sure that it makes it easier to lift the tailgate up. I got mine super cheap froma member here who was a wholesale parts manager at a Chrysler dealership. This stinking economy forced him out of that job and I lost my source for reasonably priced Dodge parts. My local dealer charged me full list price on front brake pads just the other day. Man! It kills me to do that......
Anyways, see if they will sell you one without the hardware kit. That's how I got mine and it should be much less money. Then you just go to the boat supply store and find some self tapping stainless screws and use those to mount it. The inside lip is held on with 3M tape. Then there are just four screws on the outside. You have to drill holes either way unless you just want to use 3M tape on the backside too. They look great on the truck. That's for sure....

i had the top of the tailgate coated along with the inside of the bed. so i installed air tabs at the rear edge of my hard tonneau cover.
i tried them on the rear of the cab, but they changed the aerodynamics over the bed and i loss mileage with the cab units.
