Tailgate lip spreading when under weight

Tailgate lip spreading when under weight
Anyone else had this problem? When I sit on the tailgate or put any weight on it, I can see a gap on either side.
Its bad enough that the spray in bedliner (line-x) cracked where its spreading apart.
When you close the tailgate you can see that it is slightly bent outwards by the latches.
Would having this re-welded fix it or should I look for a new tailgate?
