I put the "spoiler" that is on the 1500's. Your local Dodge parts dude probably has the "kit" that has the mounting hardware and almost everything to install. You will need a drill and proper size bit, as well as a little modication to the wellnut installation tool that comes with the kit.

just dont get the cool chrome caps... i have them on my 1500 and it was put on right but after use and some stuff hitting it, it kinda warped and now the chrome dug into the paint...

for Betsy I plan on doing over the rail Line-X... I had line-X on my previous truck and absolutely loved it, i just did under rail instead of over... not on the new girl, she will def. have overrail line-x caps...

I did the Line X right after getting mine rather than putting something plastic on the taligate.
Im now considering the spoiler to ease lowering the gate.

I got the plastic tailgate cap from the dealer. It bolt on using existing holes on the inside of the tailgate. It wraps around the top part pretty good. It wasn't too much around $50. I personally did not like the spoiler because you need to drill holes to mount it . But it would make it easier to close the tailgate.

I have both on mine, chrome (polished stainless actually) over the spray-on bedliner. The cap is beat to death, time to replace it soon since it looks like . Better to beat up the $20 cap than the top of the tailgate.

I bought the bushwacker smooth bed and tail caps. Hold on with screws and 3M tape. Happy with them so far. And less than $100 for all three parts.

No, the over-the-rails Alphaliner (bedliner) keeps it from digging in. That's why I have both, one protects the truck from the other. So I guess I'm what you call a "belt & suspenders" kind of guy.

You can kind of see it in this pict:
