tach question

ok so I read about the tach wire. If I have one can I just plug a normal tach into it or does it need to be a diesel tach?

I'm pretty sure a normal tach will work as long as it's a electronic tach and not a ingition tach. I've got a Isspro 4K tach. Works great.

Some folks have had good results with gasser tachs, others not so much. Seems like the cheaper the tach the more likely it is to work.
