ok got a synthic oil question for you guys.

i heard that once you start using it your suppose to stay with it. cause if you switch your vecichle will start to leak.

and if you do want to switch back to regular your suppose to do a complete flush

a couple of mechanics were arguing about this and i never heard it before. so is it a myth or a fact

They will only leak if they have a leak already, broke my truck in on regular shell rot. and now use shell rot 5-40 synth, have used it for 50 thou so far and no leaks. and I would not hesitate to go back to reg shell oil,

there now telling me its just for older vechicles. i dont know. i cant make sense of it. my roomate is mechanic for ford and they got a new oil flush machine that cleans out all the sludge and everything and the people that brought this machine in told them not to do old vechicles.

If it doesn't make sense, then it's known as BS. I heard if you use nitrogen in your tires, then switch back to oxygen/nitrogen mix that your FM radio will be all static and the AM will be crystal clear.

to clean out all the sludge,, run pure tranny fluid in ya motor, plus a a can of any engine flush,, when the motor really starts to knock,,, hold it at max RPM for few minutes... then take it to Ford and let them flush ya motor. This is humor, please dont attempt.

this ford company here is paying a lot of money for this machine and they were teaching the guys how to use it and it wouldnt even hook up to 6.4 liter fords. and they want 170 bucks to flush your vechicle.

There actually is some truth to this. On older vehicle that have been using dino oil for their life some of the seals will be swollen up. The synthetic oil will cause the seals to shrink back to their normal size, causing leaks. It's really only uncovering issues that the car already has but that's where it comes from. When I say older I'm talking over ten years usually since newer vehicles have newer seals/orings/gaskets etc that are less prone to swelling. Unless it's a Ford, then it's junk as soon as you drive it off the lot.
