Re:what synthetic
The factory fluid is supposed to be good for a lot of miles......
A lot of guys are using the Red-Line MTL with great results. Another option is AMSOIL.....9.5 pints. I believe the drain is at the PTO cover....

Re:what synthetic
I use Redline MTL in my 6spd. It seems to work well, and a bit better than the amsoil I had in it prior to that. Not trying to start a brand war, only my opinion.
If you remove the entire PTO cover from the driver's side, you can wipe the magnet clean the is placed on the bottom of your tranny...use a lint-free cloth.
I replaced it with a gasket under the PTO cover, too. I like gaskets better than just using some type of RTV or whatever...

Re:what synthetic
I'd recommend Red Line MTL(manual transmission lubricant)also.
I have MT90, thicker version of MTL, in my NV4500 5 speed, and it shifts much better now. A lot better than the Amsoil stuff I was led to believe would work.
