What are the symptoms of a bad injector?

I have a slight hessitation/miss at 50 MPH in 4th, and I can also make it do it around what sounds like 2400 RPM's in Neutral (No RPM gauge). It also seems to make weird noises when I go through the gears hard, but I cannot re-create them in neutral. I thought forever it was a bad wheel bearing growling, but a recent change of every bearing and u-joint ruled that out.

My truck idles smoothly, and does not smoke much, and I'm still gradually losing power. I want to make sure my problem is not an injector one because I am steadily leaning towards the VE. With my power screw bottomed and the AFC tuned I do good to hit 900* and 28 lbs of boost - which would be fine if I was not being passed by a Geo!

Watching the video of the boost and pyro gauges from JustRamIt91 made me jealous too.

crack each injector line loose at the injector. if the sound of the engine doesn't change, that should tell you which injector is bad. or you may find that one fitting at the injector line is a little loose and at higher RPM's it leaks enough to cause a "miss". i would suggest using a couple rags wadded up around the injector when you break the line loose. the high pressure fuel can actually penetrate your skin. not a good thing that could lead to fuel oil poisoning.

yep do what he said. And yes be careful cuz that fuel is very high pressured so make sure your face isn't above it or your hands around it when you break them loose

I would recommend that if you do find you miss by cracking lines that you swap the injector to a different hole and see if the miss follows the injector. If it stays with the same cylinder it is most likely something wrong inside the pump.
