Symptoms Of A Bad Injector(s)
Over the past 4 months of owning my truck I have noticed that my exhaust smells extremely ritch. Now that it's colder it's even worse. It has white smoke @ idle all day and smells like unburnt fuel all the time. When I bought the truck it was stock and since have added the mods you see in my sig. The truck runs stronger now, still not super fast and no black smoke. My egt's are low and boost never passes 25 ( with no waste gate).
I have no take off power but when the tranny locks up is the only time my boost hits 20-25 and it scoots pretty good. I have adjusted the star wheel both ways with little change to the performance.
So I said all that to ask this why the low bottom power and ritch smell?
Bad or clogged injector, dv's, fuel pressure?
And by the way I can get a little puff of black smoke if I hit the throttle real quick in neutral. I'm not looking for smoke just good even power top to bottom.

I had the simptoms of white smoke (even after being well warmed up) and the terrible exhaust smell.
Pulled the injectors and discovered they were coked up pretty bad.
Cleaned them up and had them pop tested for the heck of it.
Pop test was fine.
Put them back in and all was good again.
I used a razor blade to scapre off the carbon and then steel wool for a final polish. The steel wool might have been a bit risky as somone mentioned it may be possible for a sliver of wool to get imbedded in an orifice.
I believe my old habit of burning up to 5% of waste motor oil led to the problem - who knows.

Well I'll have to pull them and see. The truck sat for a year before I bought it and it was driven 2 or 3 times in that year so they could be dirty. Anything I could soak them in?
My uncle had a powerstroke that did the same thing and he had to get new injectors. I'm hoping I can reuse theese for a while cause I have to go pay Dave Gorend a vistit in a few weeks and can't afford new injectors for a while.
