Question Switching mirrors

How hard is it to swap out my chrome (97) mirrors for the 98-02 outside mirrors? I have the power mirrors. Will the wiring match up? Mine are starting to get really loose and I like the look of the black ones better anyway.
Thanks in advance.

They bolt right up but the wiring is different.

I put in the newer heated mirrors. The two black wires from the mirror was the heat.

yellow to red
light blue to green
white to blue

mirror to truck

Hope that helps.

Are you talking about the small mirrors or the big black towing mirrors? The big tow mirrors are not offered with power for the 2nd gen trucks, atleast none that I have found.

You can do a 3rd gen head to 2nd gen base conversion, or get some ****'s.

I'm talking about the smaller ones. I see them on ebay and they are reasonably priced. I assume that in order to get the heat option to work I would need to hook up some kind of secondary switch?
Thanks for all your help so far.

What kind of cost is involved in switching from the chrome mirrors, or the black 98-02 mirriors , up to the big black tow mirrors?

I found a set of the small ones for $80 CAD. Hooked the heater up to a lit toggle switch. I guess you could forget to turn them off and probably break the mirror, but I don't use the heated feature for more than a couple of minutes in the morning.

When I looked into the larger tow mirrors they were at least 3 times as much as what I paid for the small ones. Supply and demand, eh?
