swap auto for nv5600 and engine for 12 valve??
got my 05 this spring and sold my 02 6spd to my cousin, after looking into what billit autos cost was discusted. looking to do more pullin than racing. and the nv5600 is a stout gearbox compared to the auto-Ive heard of guys breaking billit shafts!!!. plan on making 800+hp. also tossing around building a 3rd gen 12valve! going by the cost difference of building hp on the mechanical engine vs electronic. ps hard to beat the sound! If i do build a 12 valve 6spd 3rd gen I might find a salvage hemi 2500 or 3500 srw. rather than ruining a nice truck-21k miles.thanks for any input on this project.

Hey I like. You and I both think along the same lines. I have done the 6 speed to auto back to 6 speed swap. I put in an auto, drove for a couple months, and put the 6 speed back in. I am also in the process of swapping form 2WD to 4WD. Yep. I do NOT need to hear any "Why don't you buy a 4WD it will be cheaper" I KNOW it will be cheaper and I do not care. I fab and no one that I have ever heard of swapped a 3rd Gen 2WD CTD over to 4WD. I am going to be the first. The 12Valve, well, not up my alley. Yes, bang for the buck, tough to beat. But, I like the technology behind the 24V, and just SOMETHING about shoving an old outdated motor into a 3rd Gen (going to get the 12V guys going on that) Not saying I do not like the 12V, I do. I LOVE ALL Cummins motors, all the way down to the little guys (4 bangers Cummins) Anyways, what you want to do, CAN be done, and HAS been done. I am going to church and I will post up some things you will need for the swap.

Well, I dunno about building a space shuttle, but here's a link about a engineer in New Zealand who thought that he could build a cruise missile for 'no more than $5000'

hey, thanks for the only serious coment so far. thought it would spark attention ,but not so much BS! as far as the 24-12valve Im not considering swaping my current truck. as I said I would find a hemi to start with and probably a salvage truck cause it would be a all out hot rod mostly for play and truck pulls .
Hey no problem. A short list for tranny swap:tranny, flywheel, clutch, pressure plate, slave cylinder, pedals, steering column, center console, computer and wiring harness (with related sensors), neutral safety switch, trans mount.

Well, If getting there is going to be most of your fun....then start with a Hemi...
If you are interested in saving 2 or 300 hours of time. Find a wrecked 2003 2500 4wd CR and add a P-pump and spend your time upgrading the driveline, reinforcing the frame and tuning the setup. The others aren't really BS'ing they're just tellin ya that just the last 3 is gonna take you a ton of hours ... why complicate it even further by starting with a weaker frame and a format that has been beat to death and mastered by so many...the awesome 12V. ks
