Superchips Flashpaq question
Hello, I am new and trying to gather some more information and learn more about my truck and what I can do and shouldn't do. I just got a Superchips Flashpaq for my truck and put put the turner to the Tow-Performance mode. My MPGs jumped from 18 to 24 while I was on the highway. That was hand calculated too .
Well I was wondering what do I need to keep an eye on? my truck is mainly stock only with a K&N drop in filter. I have a pryo and boost gauge on order to install. I have noticed when accelerate heavy I produce more black smoke now. I typical try to keep from that, is that something that can become a problem?
Thanks

Your going to have more smoke w/ the additional fueling of the SCs, you need those gauges asap and let your truck cool down before you shut it off(wait 45-90 secs). Your air filter is good and clean isn't it, a dirty filter will cause more smoke as well.

Yes, I clean my air filter every 10,000 miles and make sure it completely dry before I oil it and reinstall it. Thanks for the info. Whats the best gauges to have? Boost, Pryo, anything else?

Yes I have the 6 speed NV5600. Which has been a jumpy in both foreword (first and second gear) and reverse since a shop replaced the clutch pack when my through out barring went out.

I ran a Flashpaq on mine before I sold it. I borrowed it from my buddy, and he wanted me to buy it. The truck had a little more pep, but to me it wasn't worth the $200 dollars he wanted for it. If you are going to run it, you need to get a Boost, Pyro, and Fuel Pressure gauge at a minimum. The EGT's don't stay too hot for too long, but will jump up for a bit. I recommend saving up and getting a Smarty instead.

Well I am like the better mileage and power. After replacing my fuel filter and cleaning me air filter it my truck is not pushing much smoke at all. I have been getting 20 city and 25 highway (hand calculated) I have not been pushing it at all, I am waiting on my gauges to come in so I can make sure I don't run my truck to hard. Also making sure I had the correct tire size has helped. I cannot complain, it is good starting point and I did not pay an arm and a leg for it. I Might get a Smarty latter on after I up grade my exhaust.
