well i have a old super chips programmer and a friend with a 01 wants to buy it. so brings me to my question will the super chips from my 99 works on his 01.

I would get on Superchips site or anywhere that sells the unit & see what years it lists.

Yep, Superchips works for anything 98.5-02. Just as long as it isn't VIN locked.

the one I have is vin locked but makes a great code reader, and superchip will let you unlock it for $100.00 ED

hmm ya i already tried checking there web site before i posted here, and they dont even have the one i have for sale anymore its over 3 years old. but i will plug it in to the 01 and see if its vin locked but i dont think it is though. and if it islocked its probally really not even worth 100$ to unlock is it?

If you had it working on your truck and haven't used it since, it's not VIN locked as long as you set your truck back to stock before you quit using it.

Ya last time i used it i took it back to stock and threw it in the closet. so i will give it a try today and see what happens. thanks for the info guys
