Has anybody taken off a chrome grill and changed it out with a "Sport" grill? I would like to get one in black to match my truck and get rid of the chrome. I have already debadged the truck.
Any suggestions on where to get one and cost? Thanks for any help.

If you can't find one already black, then get one off of a ST and just paint it. They are on e-bay all the time. I think there was even one for sale at Dodgetalk.com in the classifieds already black...

I want to do the same thing, I think i am just going to either paint it or line-x it. I am already going to get line-x on my rocker panels. I hate the chrome grills also.

sport grills are bad ***, i like them too.
u can buy a new grill thru dodge. u can order a st one and paint it, but if u buy the sport grill it will come painted already. the black paint code on a dodge is PX8. although it will be expensive. if my memory serves me correct the sport grill is more expensive than the chrome ones. (go figure)
otherwise u can buy one on ebay, there's always stuff like that on there. or even a junk yard possibily.

Just one point to consider, and I don't know the answer, but I went to put a sport grille on my last truck (2nd gen) and found the bumper cover and grille were different between a sport/non sport models. Don't know if the same is true for the 3rd gens - would hate to see you spend a bunch of cash on something that won't fit.

If you guys find a grill I would be glad to take the chrome grill off your hands. I have been wanting one for awhile and the dealer want 90 bucks for one. It is alittle pricey for me right now but hit me up if you take yours off.

Thanks for all the suggestions. Tweeter mine doesn't have the stock front end on it anymore....so the paint match there on the bumper cover would not be an issue. Maybe I could just get mine sprayed with line-x or something.
I may price one at the dealer just for grins and also check around on ebay. I appreciate the ideas.

TexasCTD, I meant the actual size and shape of the grilles and bumper covers were different from sport and non-sports on the 2nd gens, looked at a non sport 3rd gen in a parking lot while I was out today, don't think its a issue.

The 1999 and newer 2nd GEN Sports were different....the grille was "thicker" for lack of a better word. I owned a 1998 Dodge RAM 2500 Regular Cab 4x4 CTD Flame Red Sport and a 2000 Dodge RAM 2500 Quad Cab 4x4 CTD Flame Red Sport. If you'll notice on the '99 and newer trucks, the grille actually fits around the cutout at the top of the bumper cover where as the '98 and older trucks were basically flat.

Thanks Genros....I'd love to see some pics. You should put some in your gallery anyway. :)
Also, thanks Tweeter. I didn't think on the 3rd gens that it made any difference.
