Re:STUPID QUESTION!!!!!!!! Burlap Bags
I'd have to not recommend that you do that. An accident turns those little bags of ands into 50# projectiles.
Unless there is a way to secure them in the bed, it could prove to be a fatal way to get a smoother ride.
Here's a link to Gary's story about the sandbags.

Kinda seems like a strange way to do things. All the extra weight will definately affect the mileage and performance. I went with adjustable shocks. I can make the ride soft if I want.

Re:STUPID QUESTION!!!!!!!! Burlap Bags
i was planning on tying them down with the hooks near the tailgate. but itsn't it dangerous with anything in the bed or cab, considering anything will move around in an accident?

[/quote]Sure it is, it's a risk you have to decide for yourself you want to take, just as driving is a risk. Just consider all the people that drive cars, wear there seatbelts and then pile there rear window shelf with junk orlet there pets sit up there, if they have to stop fast or get rear ended all that comes forward.

They are definetly designed to run loaded, but I can't say that is the best solution to the problem. Do those Velvet Ride things help at all for ride? This issue is something I'd like to have an answer for before buying/ daily driving a CTD over my MB. Air shocks? Adjustable shocks? Is it possible to get it to ride like a car but make it possible to still be the heavy duty truck it is?
The only time I've ever felt my dad's truck ride smooth was when my car was on the trailer in back, the ride down there was miserable though. The trailer was controlling the truck, shaking it constantly for 5 hours! I should have deflated one axle of tires on the trailer, I realized this as I made it there. LOL Oh well... live and learn.

Check out this link if you like the best ride you can get and lift when you need it. I built my own, based on their design.
I think if the folks from Dodge were smart they'ed offer this suspension on their 3/4 & 1 tons talk about an advatage over the competition. ;Dhttp://www.keldermanmfg.com/

Mine is 2wd, I would call them "Jeff" and see what they have to say. I know there's some customers that you could talk to, I would be willing to bet most of their installations are on 4wds.
