Stumbling and no power

I have a 6.7/auto I bought in March 2007 that has only 12,300 miles on it. This morning, after stopping for a few minutes, restarted the truck and it got really loud and started chugging (like it was missing), CEL came on and stalled. Retarted it and still chugged loudly. Tried to raise the rpm's but would only rev to about 1500. Then it stalled again. Dash gauges read normal (oil, temp, volts). Let it sit for about 15 minutes. Restarted and ran fine the rest of the day. CEL still on. Never done anything like this before. No messages, no codes, not in regen. 250 miles into a tank of ULSD fuel. No smoke. What gives !!???

I'm not sure how you can get a CEL without codes. Sounds like it's time to go to the dealer for sure. Did you already do that? I'm curious what the result was.
