well fellas all was gooing good till it came to pressing the pump out and it all went to hell from there.it seems like the pump is froze-welded to the gear and will not press free.i havent read on here were thats happened, and was wondering if anyone has had this sort of issue?all bolts are removed from the pump the four bolts and two nuts on the engine bloke, but it feels exactly like therre is still somthing holding it on.there is about an 1/8" between the pump and crank case cover but when you wiggle the pump around you can see it still married to the gear.any ideas would be a big help,i was going to add some heat to her while it had some pressure on it but this is going to be a last resort.the pump has only been on for 4 years.

Mine came off & went on easy. Look at your replacement pump. The shaft is tapered, well machined and unlikely to be stuck even after 4 yrs. I'll bet something is holding it. NOte how the bracket installs & make sure it is unbolted. you may want to search & watch dieseldanmac vp on youtube.

I wish I was as fine, as those who work the pipeline!
Try tapping the key with a punch. Not hard, but when the pump was put in it may not have been aligned properly. Also might try some penetrating oil and leaving the gear puller on while under pressure for a while. Then with the press on with pressure on it, try wiggling the pump back and forth, up and down.

I'm sure you'll get it with that puller. I tried a steering wheel puller on mine last January to no avail. I fabricated a puller out of the engine pulling eye that you remove by the fuel lines, and used the short plenum bolts and sockets as spacers. This jury-rigged puller is described elsewhere on the internet. You simply have to either file or dremel grind material from the two mounting holes in the eye to match the distance between the threaded holes on the gear. It's takes only about 1/16" removal in each hole. You are actually elongating the holes toward each other.
Sockets were used as spacers, but anything of equal length would work. The tapered shaft definitely deveolps a press fit onto that gear. It took a lot of torque on these bolts to pop it free, but once it does, you'll hear a distinctive "clunk". My previous pump had only been on three years. A steering type puller just doesn't seem to work well on this.
Good luck!

Not sure if I'm to late and this maybe a dumb question, but did you take off the two bolts that bolt the mounting bracket on bottom of the pump to the block, just on the *** end of the pump.
