stripped torque converter bolts

Canadian tranny guy said to torque flex plate to torque converter bolts to 50. Apparently he meant 50 Newton Meters, not 50 Ft. #’s. I tried 50 ft. #’s. Bolt is stripped. I am assuming that the fix it to try to tap out to a slightly larger bolt, any advice?

FYI service manual for the ’06 says 35 Ft #’s

You might could use a heli-coil.

tap to bigger size or heli-coil will work, BUT be careful not to damage the converter by tapping to deep.
