When I am driving at slow speeds lately, I hear a faint, but noticeable steady squeaking sound. I have no clue what this is! Does anyone know what this may be and should I take it to my mechanic?

It's kinda hard to tell so far, maybe you can "play around" with it out on the road and narrow it down. For instance, does it change when you go on/off the throttle? Does it go away or change if you apply the brakes, or if you lean the truck side-to-side on curves? Is it still there if you shut the engine off and coast in neutral?

These things will help to diagnose it, but I'd look at the front brakes first and make sure they're not worn down to the squealers. It may also be a dry u-joint- a helper standing beside the truck as you drive slowly by may be able to pinpoint the area of the noise.

my advice is to check the U-joints especially the front in shaft ones if 4x4 or another place I have found on mine is the center or midship bearing on the rear drive shaft. good luck

If you have a auto oil all transmission linkages. Stopped mine, have to do it ever now and then.

My seal started squeaking like that. It's on the inboard side of the hub assembly. Jack it up and spin it real fast. I had to use a long handled screw driver stuck in one of the rim holes to get mine going fast enough. It would do it going 20mph at the least. Mine was on the drivers side. I turned the wheel a little where I could get to it good(watch the jack if turning while raised) and sprayed the seal with lithium grease. It dont last long, but will stop the squeak a week or so. I'm guessing the rubber in the seal has just dried out.
