View Full Version : Strange Idle

Couple weeks ago the wife pulled into the driveway and had me go out to check her idle speed. Tach showed 1200 RPM. She just completed a 150 mile trip, and didn't notice it until she pulled off the highway. After goosing the throttle a couple times and physically checking under the hood for something odd, I gave up and shut it down. Started it up - idle was normal (somewhere between 8-900 rpm). Any ideas?

You may need to recalibrate your APPS. Do a search on APPS. There are posts on the calibration procedure. The idle speed is controlled by the ECM, but if a signal is being received to give the engine throttle the idle will be higher.

Got it...searching now. Of course she hasn't had a lick of trouble since. ::)

After recalibrating the APPS, check out this thread for something I've never thought of. Can't wait for the pictures.

http://www.dodge-diesel.org/yabbse/index.php?board=4;action=display;threadid=6866
