Strange electrical issues. Please help

I drove my truck down to Denver and everything was running perfect. Went to start it the next morning and none of my dash gauges would work, wait to start light wouldn't come on. I had the truck towed up to my house and after a lot of searching I thought that the PCM was fried. I had an extra one layin around so i swapped it in a got new batteries. Now my fuel gauge/volt gauge works, (not sure about temp b/c I didn't let it run that long), and the wait to start light comes on. However, my tach still isn't working and I am about out of ideas of what could cause this. The only other thing that I have seen posted on here is the ESS could be bad, but I can't understand how both the PCM and ESS would die at the same time. Does anyone have any idea's?

Check and clean off all your grounds, including at the battery terminals and check your battery cables down to the starter.

My dash died like that once. My tack would go out also more frequently. Intermittent of coarse. Check engine light would come on when it happened. Changed cam sensor and it has not happened since. I forgot what code it set.
