Straight Piped 12v ???s

Hey, I just got some b-day money and Im considering putting on a straight pipe, so I have a few questions...

#1 How much will it increase the noise levels???

#2 How much power gain will I see???

#3 Does any one, other than Genos, make an elimination kit???

#4 How much would an Exhaust shop charge ....guesstiment???

Thanks,

Re:Straight Piped 12v ???s

Hey Greyboy, here is my experience with removing the muffler and cat. converter.

#1 The noise level will increase quite a bit if you remove the cat and the muffler

#2 Not much if any.

#3 I went to the local muffler shop and bought a piece of 3" pipe and had then flare each end. I replaced it from the down pipe all the way to the tailpipe with a straight piece of pipe and made some hangers. The pipe was $47.00

#4 Most won't do it unless you know somone.

Hope this helps,
Darrin

I disagree with reply #4. A lot of exhaust shops have no problem straight piping diesel's. Mine did it for $60, but I've heard of it being done for as low as $25 on the 'net. No way to see except for going to your local exhaust shop and pricing it.

Re:Straight Piped 12v ???s

I made a phne call, drove in, the guy put my truck on the rack, made the pipe and welded it in for only $40.00, only catch was he wanted to back it out and hear it idle. It drew some attention when I left ;D

Same here. I paid $60 for a stick of pipe that it took to replace the old cat and muff. I got it done at meineke (spelling)
