Genos has a stright pipe kit that removes the muffler. I was wondering if anyone here had done this and does it give more hp/torque/milage?

Thanks!!!
Luis
almost everybody has it helps some but most do it for the sound ;D. you can probably by the pipe from a local muffler shop and save some $

I'd gut your cat first.
They have more restriction than the muffler.

If worried about legality, just take it off, hollow it out, put it back on.
Then proceed with a mufflerectomy.

Not much in the mpg or HP, but helps with EGT's while towing or racing.

And sounds great as well.

phox

Paradise Racing:

You can order a "catalytic converter test pipe"
from Dodge for your truck. This pipe was used
by the dealerships to check and see whether
or not a stock converter was bad or not.
It fits directly in place of the catalytic converter.
I used one on my truck awhile back. As I recall,
it cost around $49.00. The Dodge part number
is: #52019170AB.

--------
John_P

Just go ahead and kill the cat and drop that muff. If you have access to a mig welder you can do it yourself, its not that hard and you will definately like the sound ;D. If not take it to your local muffler shop they shouldnt charge you much. Oh and while your at it go ahead pull your silencer ring out ... it'll whistle more that way ;) all you need is a set of snap ring pliers or a couple screw drivers.
Good luck
Wheels
My local exhaust shop did it for $65. Sounds great.
Scooter

I think the pre 24 valve 2nd gen trucks had cats...24 valve 2nd gens had a resonator.

Luis:

The test pipe slips in exactly where the cat is and you
then just use the clamps to hold it. The one I had fit
right in with no problem.

-------
John_P

Dang Paradise, you are going over to the "DarkSide" in a hurry. You are posting everywhere on mods. HaHa. Anyhow, here comes another opinion. Go 4" all the way back from the turbo. Again, do it once, do it right. Contact www.sourceautomotive.biz (Rip Rook) and get the best deal on a complete great sounding 4" all the way back. And, at the rate you are going, up the credit limit on your credit cards. You're gonna need to.

Best of Luck and ifn you want more advice on how to spend some more of your money, just keep asking questions.

Regards,

Roger

Yep, I'll second that one....I was just going to get a fuel plate and call it good. That's what I told myself when I bought it anyways. ::) Hmmm too bad I can't cash in on my life insurance money, I can't spend it if I'm dead!!!

[laugh] [laugh] I told my wife last night that this truck was gonna be worst than the race car ;D When I bought the truck I had an idea that I would put some money into it but not this much and not this quick. Tell you the truth if it wasnt for this board it would have taken me longer. I have her convinced that all the mods that I am doing are to improve milage and durability ;D partially true ;) [laugh]

Racer57 I have been a long time good standing member of the dark side for the last 4 years ;D While not on a CTD, I have been doing it on turbo 4 cylinders and love it!!! Its fun making 600hp+ out of a 1.8cc 4 banger!!! Boost!!! ;D

I must say though, you guys are the friendliest set of people I have met on the internet. Guys in the import world would never share their horse power secrets >:(

Thanks for all the help and I will keep you guys informed on my mods!!!

P.S. 4" exhaust huh? I gotta find a good excuse for that one [laugh]
