Stock temp guage
Took my truck to the dealer for a fluctuating temp guage a couple of weeks ago. The tech hooked up his portable computer and went for a test drive. When he returned he said it was running between 190 and 195 and that the gauge fluctuation is normal. Is that true? It seems to only do it when accelerating and not at a constant speed. The guage will get up to the 200 mark and then drop back down to just below 200 while running with no load. Just wanted to check and see if this is normal as the tech said. Thanks

Seems normal to me. Mine will chill just below 200 mark and when I get on it up a hill or something it will go to 200 and sometimes just a bit over. Then cool right down. From what I have seen and read, its normal. I could be wrong?

I have noticed the same thing with mine. However the factory gauge is nowhere near accurate. I just installed a Quad Commander which monitors water temp digitally, and when my factory gauge goes over the 200* mark, the # on my Quad is around 193*. I worked it pretty hard this weekend and never saw the Quad temp get above 200* but the factory one went to 3/4 then fell back down. I dont trust the factory one at all....But yes it is normal to see it fluctuate...
