Stock, RV275, RV300...

What is the stock rating for my injectors (so I can calculate the increase from stock to 275, and 300).

Is it worth going up to the 300's vs. the 275's?

How are the cold starts with the 275's and 300's?

How about the idling? I've heard large injectors can get a little lopey....

Thanks...

Expect about a 40hp increase. Last I heard, 275's and 300's are the same. People just called the 275's 300 because it sounds better to sell. Unless things have changed in the last two or three years regarding that.

That's what I've heard also, there the same thing. No differents it start or idle, will probley be better if anything, seens yours have umteen thousand miles on them. I would think it would be closer to 60 HP but what's 20 hp between friends. You can feel it in the seat of the pants, some. but don't expect miracles.

Ditto on the above have heard they are the same as well. Expect about 40hp increrase. The edge/275 combo is pretty nice as heat shouldnt be a real problem. The HY turbo you have (if you still have it) should be able to handle it except maybe pulling heavy over the mountains in which case just turn down the edge a bit or downshift.
The only time I had any real heat issues with that combo was when pulling in the mountains you know the type of road where you have to slow down to 25-30 then try to speed back up to 50 up a 5 or 6% grade . Pretty much any pass except the tunnel. However a downshift here and there or an edge adjustment on the fly would always take care of it. Seems those mountain roads put you at a speed that is just under where you want your rpms to be for good heat disapation. (Unless you are running 4:10s with that auto)I ran into trouble with the hy when I added the smarty along with the injectors and the edge box.
If you go with anything much beyond say the f1 1.6 injectors you may run out of turbo (asumming an HY) towing heavy in the mountains and even those might be a stretch for towing heavy through the mountain twisty curveys without downshifting into 2nd.

i have the RV275's with no problems whatsoever. Cold starts are no different than stock. It's a nice mild upgrade, just enough to put a smile on your face for the first couple weeks.

I hope.

Thanks for the replies....

Now, where can/should I get these from?

I watched a video lastnight on youtube and it looks like this might not be that hard to do on my own....

You may very well be right. I just saw that you had an auto and assumed you had the hy but since yours is a 98 you may very well have the hx I seem to rememebr they didnt start using the hy until 2000 autos. In which case my previous post about being warm may very well not apply as much. I have a hx hybrid on now and have zero egt problems with my setup for my driving. I dont race, pull or in general drive like a nut, the edge juice is usually on 2 or 3. Fairly conservative driver. And if that is the case you may not "need" a turbo depending on how you drive. At least with the 275's. The 1.6's you may have some heat issues towing over the mountains. Surely nothing you couldnt overcome with a right foot adjustment or an edge adjustment

I have the RV275's and a Edge EZ, no problems what so ever on startup. The extra power is nice and you will smile for a few weeks (then you will want more).

you wont have any drivability issues with the rv275 injectors. you wont really see any difference till you get to 150hp and up injectors

i got my RV275's from Harry, at:

Peak Diesel Performance

his prices on items i have bought have been unbeatable up here in Canada (with or without shipping). just call and ask for his best price . . . it may go up or down at times depending on the dollar and when/how much he has bought.

I actually got a small mileage increase when I installed mine. I would get a light haze at low rpm when accelerating sometimes with no chip. I usually run my chip in the timing (Economy)mode and I get no hazing. The truck starts and idles fine when the engine is cold, even with the cold weather no problems. This should give you a little extra kick with the edge comp box. Also these are not large injectors, they are considered mild.

Also I have heard or mileage incress up to 1 mpg around town, 3 mpg highway.
Im excited for mine.
