Stock lubes & quantities?
Well its time to start changing my fluids I just hit 110K but I've been having trouble finding what I have in my diff and tranny. I tried the dealer and that was useless. 
I want to replace both fluids with what ever is in there now. My diff is a 4:10 posi not sure which Dana it is. My tranny is a 47RE auto. As far as i got was 6litres(5 quarts) of ATF+4 for tranny and 4L (3.825 quarts) of 75/90 for the diff. Is the diff synthetic ?? I tow 2-3times a year.

Look around here. Some of the component descriptions have the 'official' lubricant description listed.

Dino is ok....
I use PetroCanada Traxus 75W90 synthetic in my rear diff (bought a 22L pail for just over $100)...am still running 75W90 dino in the front diff (mostly becuase I dont want to throw it away). Both front and rear diffs take 4-5 litres each. If you have a limited slip rear, youll need 1-2 bottles of friction modifier from the dealer. BTW, if you have an auto, you have the Dana 70 rear and Dana 60 front.
As for ATF, Ive been told by a 30 year tranny guy to just use ATF +3. That is also what goes in the transfer case.
If you look in your owners manual, it will list all the specs and capacities.

As for the drain plug...personally, I wouldnt do that - its nice to pull the cover off and clean all the gunk out of the housing (I usually use about a can and a half of brake cleaner per diff), clean the magnet off, and make sure everything else looks good...If you do go with the drain plug yoiu should probably still pull the cover every other change. Its really not that bad of a job, especially if you have air tools (which I do not)
