Still here, sort of.
Hey guys, have not been around much… I’m still here kicking. Dodge is still down, after Christmas in the slow time for trucking I will probably get it put together. Freight shaker is still doing fine. Had its first accident…. Truck ran over it in a truck stop while I was asleep. Not bad, $3400 damage.
I have been on the road most of the time but the computer got a virus and I did not have the time to work it out so have been down on the computer completely, it would crash after a few seconds on line. Time has been a short commodity lately. Still running the short runs, but with fuel up in price have been staying in the truck instead of coming home a lot to save fuel. It shortened my running a few hundred miles over the last few weeks.
Well I bought the truck, tapped my reserve money heavily, then a “can’t pass up trailer came up” so I bought it, still do not have it on the road. It got the rest of my backup money. Got a Koaffman six car trailer for $6500, they sell used for $12,000 or so. Got it paid for and hooked up then noticed it had no ramps. Ordered new OEM ramps, $700, they were not OEM, have to build new racks to store them. It had no hydraulic remote transmitter, ordered a new one, $140, it did not work. A couple of weeks trying to determine the actual model of the unit used and the wiring schematic, receiver is bad, so a whole new unit ordered. Now I have a new unit on the way and a new transmitter for the old one that I can’t use.
A truck pulled out of the space next to me in the truck stop, turned too sharp, knocked me out of the bunk. He kept going. Truck next to me got him on the CB, he came back, said he did not know he hit me. Oh well, at least I got his insurance info, it will get fixed.
Anyway, I am ready for Christmas, need a few days off. It has been hectic. Only problem that I have had with the truck is the wiper motor went out, a couple of hundred fixed that after a three hour ride in the rain without them.

Oh & by the way I avoid truck stops & rest areas for some shut eye. Too noisy & too many not so swift JB Hunt & Swift drivers in there fresh out of school. LOL

Thinks for the read. I’ve been thinking of leaving the city and going back into trucking. After reading your post…..I think I’ll just stay put. Good luck to ya. If you get over this way and have a problem (or not) give me a call and I’ll buy you a cup.
