Stereo/CD question 2002
I just purchased a 2002 QC ETH/DEE that has just a am/fm stereo and tape. It DOES NOT have the tweeters on the A-pillar and the head unit doesn't have INFINITY on it. I'm looking to replace it with a FACTORY CD player. Can this be done? I hate having to cut into wiring etc if I go aftermarket. Please don't recommend something aftermarket-----its out of the question. Thx Stuart

All the foctory radios have the same connectors. When I bought my truck the dealer had promised me a CD but the truck only had a cassette. He swiched it out with a unit that has both CD and cassette. Simple 15 min plug in. Most Chrysler radios (Dodge, Jeep, etc) from '94 to '02 should fit.

Stuart,
aftermarket stuff is so much better than factory. I just pulled out the cassset player in my 98 and put in a CD/mp3 player. The sound quality and options/features on the aftermarket units are so good that the stock stuff isnt even in the same league.
As already merntioned, there is no need to cut any wiring harness. When/if you buy aftermarket, you also can buy another harness. This you match up with the wires coming from your new deck and solder the harness wires to match the cd player wires. Then unplug the factory deck and plug the new harness into your existing harness and your done. Its a simple deal. Also, you can buy a custom mounting plates to help in mounting the new deck.

If you do stay with a factory receiver, it is a direct plug-in. When I replaced my Infinity CD/cassette combo receiver (with a much better aftermarket one for $200 ) I put my Infinity in my dad's 2001 that only had the cassette. It literally took 10 minutes to complete. Everything plugs in directly.
But I will still recommend aftermarket, even though you told me not to
