Steering wheel wrap removal?

Anybody removed the leather wrap from their steering wheel? Mines tore at the top and is getting on my nerves. Seems pretty simple except for where the horn buttons are. Anybody have any advice on this? Thanks Dave

I avoided removing the original leather on my steering wheel by installing a wheelskin cover, they are great quality and can be found for around $25.

Hope this helps.

I'll second the Wheelskins! awesome cover. Only stupid thing I did was to install it when it was about 115 degrees outside. Took a little longer than I thought!

My wheel started to disintegrate at the top (12:00 position). I bought a formed leather cover from Wal-Mart for 11.00. It is great.

I put a wheel skin on mine too, it was only $15 or so at Pep Boys. It was hard to get it tight around the spokes though. It flatened out with time.

I really don't want anything fatter. I figured I could just cut the leather wrap off and it would be the same as a nonwrapped wheel.

I cheated and just trimmed the cover back to the spokes and left the rest. It doesn't look perfect because of the seam where i cut it, but it looks a lot better than having the cover flopping all over.
