Steering Wheel Slightly Loose
My steering wheel is a little bit loose...that is, it will move up and down kind of like it is not firmly attached to the column.
I use it to pull myself into the truck...thus, I expect I have caused this to happen over time.
Has anyone fixed this ?
Did you have to buy a new column ?

Got the same problem and posted it twice with no good answers. Dealer only stocks new column complete at $1100. Ain't going to happen. Pulled the airbag to ensure top nut was tight but couldn't find my puller to pull the wheel and check lower. Plan to shortly. Let me know if you find a solution. Oh, yeah, mine has an adjustable steering column. Not sure it makes any difference. If feels like a bearing or bushing is loose right where the shaft first enters the column.

I have that problem also. This weekend I'm planning on tearing into it. I'm sure it's just a loose nut behind the wheel. I will post the repair after I'm done.

It will be the tilt in the column more than likely if anything. Its lacated right near the top and once you get the cover off around the key switch you will see what I am talking about.
May be able to fix the groove with a round file.

If your column is anything like a GM (I haven't had this issue w/mine, so I don't know exactly what it looks like), it uses a ball and socket arrangement that has a lockdown collar. The four torx head bolts that secure the collar and tighten up the whole mess loosen over time (and many yanks on the wheel to get in) and cause the wheel to get wobbly. The cure on that arrangement is to remove the wheel and the locking mechanism to access the bolts. Use locktite on the bolts and you should be in business.

Yes as am matter of fact. It was just a few loose bolts down by the tilt wheel section of the colum. Very easy job, but I have a steering wheel puller. I don't think you can get the wheel off and back on with out one. Let me know if you need some help.

I'll probably be doing mine this weekend.
Curious if you could offer any step by step comments.
I presume I will need to do the following:
1. Remove bottom plastic cover from Tilt etc. assembly.
2. Unbolt the air bag ( 2 bolts behind steering wheel )
3. Pull airbag out and unhook electrical wire.
4. Pull steering wheel with puller.
Not sure about what next before getting to the point of tightening the loose bolts ???
If you have a minute I would appreciate any further details you can offer.

Your on the right track, next you will see the blinker assembly remove that and right under that you will see the bolts that are loose. Let me know if you need more information. I have a friend that has a manuel.
