steering ?

ive got a quite a bit of play in my steering and was wondering what i might need to do to fix this. dont know if its the ball joints or the track bar. any help is appreciated.

The best way to figure this out is to recruit a friend to turn the steering wheel back and forth and look at what moves. The slightest bit of play can cause problems. The places to look are the frame end of the trackbar, tie rod and drag link ends, the end of the pitman arm, and see whether the actual steering box has a delay in changing directions. To check your ball joints, grab the top of the tire and try to rock it in and out.

Most people find that they have a combination of things gone wrong. A lot of people have to replace the track bar and end up using a thuren bar or a 3rd gen conversion or a luke's link. If there is play in the pitman arm, you will need a dss.

One other thing to keep in mind is that poor steering can be caused by lack of wheel alignment.
